NACUBO RECOGNIZES TUITION MANAGEMENTS
SYSTEMS' INTEGRATED EDUCATION PAYMENT
PROCESS AS A "BEST PRACTICE"

July 1, 2005
Business Model Featured in NACUBO's "The Business Value Web"

WARWICK, RI (July, 2005) — From hundreds of companies throughout higher education, The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) chose to spotlight Tuition Management Systems' integrated education payment process business model as a "best practice" in their publication, The Business Value Web. This "case study" of today's best practices in resourcing utilizing our partnernship with a large well-known University. It consists of two opening chapters that deal conceptually with "resourcing" and one chapter that provides case studies of effective "resourcing" in action. Tuition Management Systems is cited as an example of effective resourcing. It provides an illustration of impressive results.

The case study outlines how the university and Tuition Management Systems used a combination of internal and external resources to affect the delivery of integrated tuition payment solutions to students and families at the school through Tuition Management Systems' proven path. It addresses how students and families struggle with the challenges of finding the best solution in the most efficient and timely manner.

By recognizing the power of delivering a consistent and high-quality experience supported by service level across all channels (direct mail, Web, IVR, inbound phone, outbound phone, on-campus), Tuition Management Systems and the university were able to provide value to the entire school community.

This case study also demonstrates the power of a true resourcing relationship backed by a commitment to higher education and focus on client service. Resourcing is the result of a school's strategic decision to establish a relationship with a business partner that performs its tasks with an intention of helping the school accomplish its mission and goals. You outsource to "vendors", but you "resource" with partners.

For the university, Tuition Management Systems is the "resource" to help their families afford their education and to help the school reap the financial benefits of more satisfied families, improved cash flow, and reduced workload. With expanded customer service and the financial situation for its families, the university has experienced substantial benefits by resourcing the delivery of tuition payment solutions to Tuition Management Systems. This "true partnership" has given the university the opportunity to leverage Tuition Management Systems resources to expand their administrative capacity, which otherwise might not be so easily achieved.

Because the organization structure of many schools is often broken out into separate units, it sometimes become difficult for the units to communicate effectively resulting in confusion for students and families. The article illustrates how a single partner can help bridge the gap and provide a more complete solution.
